The Leadership Conference is a gathering of top students from each
participating AASCA School. The leaders of National Honor Society,
Student Government, and Class Officers and sports teams should be
among those attending.
The approach which has been the most successful has been one in
which, given the very talented young people assembled, we take
advantage of the group dynamics.
Five participants from each school are allowed along with one
chaperon.
This year, some High school students participated in the "AASCA
Leadership and Service Experience " event in Antigua Guatemala. On
the second day students were asked to participate in activities where
showed their leadership skills and they were taken out of their
comfort zone in a boot camp.
The following are some of the goals that they achieved:
To understand the nature of groups.
To understand the importance of communication.
To understand the qualities of leadership in order to better
use them in school and community settings.
To learn new problem solving and decision is making skills.
To make new friends with students from similar schools in
order to provide the foundation of a peer network.
To have a rewarding and fun experience.
